How many library materials can I check out?

Escorts employees are allowed to borrow up to 4 circulating materials at one time.

How do I renew library materials?

Renewals may be accomplished in one of the following ways:

  • In person, at the library circulation desk.
  • Online, using the Escorts Library Catalogue's Login.

Exceptions include: items recalled by another person, items with a very short loan period (such as most non-circulating library materials), items overdue to the point that they have blocked your borrowing privileges, and items billed for replacement.

What if the library does not have the standard I need?

You can request standards using the Interlibrary Loan service.

I can't access this database/e-resource/e-journal. How can I get help? Who do I report it to?

Contact the IT Help Desk.

Can I renew my books online?

Yes, you can renew most books online by clicking on the Renew Items tab in my Escorts Library Catalogue.

Exceptions include: items recalled by another person, items with a very short loan period (such as most non-circulating materials), items overdue to the point that they have blocked your borrowing privileges, and items billed for replacement.

To renew books online you will need your Patron ID and your password.

How do I access library resources from off campus?

Anyone may access the library website and catalogue from any internet-connected computer.

How do I put a hold on a book or submit a recall request?

If you search for a book in the Escorts Library Catalogue and find that it has already been checked out by another borrower, you can now submit a request for it online.

You can view the requests you have pending in the Escorts Library Catalogue which you are automatically logged into when you submit a request. The borrower who currently has the item will receive a message to return it. When the item is returned, you will receive an e-mail when it is available to be picked up.

I lost a book. How much will it cost to replace it? Who do I need to contact?

The minimum replacement fee for each lost or damaged item is the cost of the material plus a processing fee of Rs 200. A borrower may replace lost or damaged materials with copies acceptable to the library.Contact the library staff for more information.

Where can I check my e-mail in the library?

"E-mail"can be checked at any of the library computers. However, please try to limit your e-mail at a library computer station so that others needing to use the computers for library research can access a computer.

How and where can I make photocopies in the library?

Photocopies can be done on the photocopier available in the Administrative Block, Escorts Knowledge Management Centre.
